Previously painted surface
The substrate should be a clean well-held surface free from loose material, dirt, dust, grease, oil and mould.
Newly completed walls should be left to cure before the application of Porter&rsquo ; s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer. Minimum drying/curing times:
Cement render - 28 days
Cement &ldquo ; bagged&rdquo ; surface - 14 days
Bricks and mortar - 56 days
Filled concrete blocks - 56 days
Pre-cast and in-situ concrete - 56 days
The substrate should be a clean well-held surface free from loose material, dirt, dust, grease, oil, release agents, mould, and anything else likely to inhibit adhesion. Newly completed masonry walls should be left to cure before the application of Porter&rsquo ; s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer.
RE-COATING LIME WASH OR INTERNO: Ensure the surface to be undercoated is a clean well-held surface free from loose material, dirt, dust, grease, oil, mould, and anything else likely to inhibit adhesion. Lime washes, particularly on exteriors, can weather and age, creating a powdery surface. Although this powdery residue is normal for lime wash, when intending to apply any undercoats or sealers, this powdery residue must be removed, and the surface made stable.
On new unpainted fresh set plaster do not proceed until plaster has thoroughly set and has dried completely. Firstly, apply 1 coat Porter’ s Mineral Silicate Primer by brush or roller. Touch dry 20 minutes. Allow 2 hours dry time. Then apply by brush, roller or spray 1 coat Porter’ s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer. Touch dry 2 hours. Allow 6 hours dry time.
